Tofu Steak

Believe it or not, Tofu can be "steak", too. A popular main dish served with Asian mushroom sauce and butter.

Serves 1-2


Ingredients: Firm Tofu (1/2 box), 2-3 fresh mini Bella mushrooms, Enoki mushrooms, 10-15 green beans and 1 carrot.

Sauce: vegetable oil, butter, soy sauce, salt, cornstarch, and black pepper, to taste.


Steps:


[1] Place sliced Tofu on top of a clean paper towel to drain water for 5-10 minutes. When dried, apply cornstarch on both sides of Tofu.


[2] Take off the stem of mushrooms and slice the stems into small pieces. Cut carrots into round pieces.


[3] Put 2 tbsp of vegetable oil in a frying pan and fry both sides of Tofu in medium-high heat and cook until golden brown. Put them on a serving plate.


[4] Pour in the sliced mushroom stems and fry for 1-2 minutes.


[5] Place in all vegetables with water, butter and oil into the frying pan and use high heat to steam vegetables for 1-2 minutes, with the cover closed.


[6] Finally, add in the sauce which is mixed with sliced mushroom stems, water, soy sauce, salt, cornstarch, and black peppers. Continue to cook at medium low heat and stir gently and frequently for 1 minute.


[7] To serve, pour the sauce over the Tofu steak and vegetables.
