Ingredients: 3-4 wheat gluten sticks, ginger, 5-10 black wood ears and 5-10 broccoli stems.

Sauce: salt (1tsp), soy sauce (1tbsp), cornstarch (1 tbsp), sesame oil (1 tbsp), brown sugar (1tsp), black pepper (1tsp), and crushed red pepper (or any hot peppers).

Steps:

[1] Peel the bottoms of the broccoli stems to remove the tough fibers. Cut and slice the stems into 1-2 inches of thin pieces.

[2] Cut gingers into 1 inch of thin pieces.

[3] Cut wheat gluten sticks into round sections. Put into heated oil pan (at medium heat) and pan-fry with ginger for 3-5 minutes or until the color turns brown (don't over-cook the ginger).

[4] Add in the rest of vegetables including sliced broccoli steams and wood ears. Stirring gently.

[5] Pour in some water and add in the sauce, which is mixed with soy sauce, salt, cornstarch, brown sugar, peppers, sesame oil, and crushed red peppers. Cook the dish at medium heat for 5-8 minutes with the cover closed.

[6] Open the cover and continue to cook. Wait until the dish has nearly absorbed the sauce. Serve the dish with rice and any additional green vegetables on top.
